Kentucky DOC Release Paths
There is no single “Calloway state prison,” and no KDOC prison was identified inside Calloway County. The Kentucky Department of Corrections assigns eligible people across its system based on classification and administrative decisions. It can also place qualifying state inmates in county jails. The physical location may therefore be far from the court that imposed the sentence.
A state release can lead to parole, mandatory reentry supervision, another lawful custody setting, or the end of incarceration and supervision reflected by discharge. A detainer may send the person directly to another authority. KOOL status and location, the KDOC Daily Releases report, and District 1 Probation and Parole each answer a distinct part of the question. The county roster does not serve as the statewide release search.

Confirm Kentucky DOC Release
Enter through the official Kentucky Offender Online Lookup disclaimer page and open KOOL. Search by full name or DOC or PID number. Compare candidates with conviction and location details, then open the matching record. Read the current status and location before reading any sentence date. Identity matching by number is safer than relying on a common name.
- Search KOOL using the person’s name or state identifier.
- Open the matching detail record and note status, location, and institution start date.
- Separate minimum expiration, parole eligibility, proposed release, and maximum expiration fields.
- Open the KDOC Daily Releases report for the suspected event date.
- Contact District 1 P&P or request a narrow state record when updated status remains unclear.
For a local booking that never entered KDOC jurisdiction, return to the Calloway County released inmate search and use the jail release record and court disposition instead.

Identify the person by name and DOC number, specify the record type, and give a useful date range. Ask for the final order or release record needed, not an entire institutional file. Kentucky law permits exemptions and redaction. Court records remain with Kentucky Court of Justice procedures rather than an executive-agency request route.
Kentucky DOC Date Labels
KOOL uses several exact labels that should not be shortened into one “release date.” Minimum Expiration of Sentence Date, shown with Good Time Release Date, is the closest public label to projected good-time expiration. Parole Eligibility Date marks when consideration can occur. Proposed Release Date may appear after a parole action. Maximum Expiration of Sentence Date reflects the sentence endpoint subject to lawful recalculation, and Expected Time to Serve is another calculation field.
KDOC says updates are made daily, does not guarantee all information, and warns that offender data less than 120 days old may not be finalized. A location change can show movement to another institution. A released or supervised status can show a post-prison path. Neither should be read without the record date and related agency action.

- A planned release point that can still change before the event.

- The agency-recorded end of a sentence or supervision obligation.
- Detainer
- A hold that can direct release to another authority rather than the community.
Kentucky DOC Daily Releases
KDOC maintains an official date-by-date Daily Releases archive. It can corroborate a state event when KOOL’s projected and eligibility fields are hard to interpret. Select the report for the suspected date and compare its identifiers with KOOL. The archive covers state corrections releases. It must never be relabeled as a Calloway County jail release list.

A dated report is stronger evidence of an administrative event than an eligibility field, but it still may reflect release to supervision or another authority rather than an unconditional return home.
Kentucky DOC Sentence Credits
KRS 197.045 addresses statutory sentence credits, including good behavior and qualifying program or work credits, along with forfeiture. CPP 19.2 governs inmate work credit, and CPP 15.5 supplies a controlled process for restoration of forfeited good time. These rules affect calculations only when the person and credit qualify. They do not support a public one-size-fits-all calculator.
KRS 439.3401 applies specific service requirements to people who meet its offense-based violent-offender definition. It is inaccurate to claim every Kentucky felony sentence uses an 85 percent rule. Offense date, statutory version, judgment, sentence type, and exclusions matter. Only the court and KDOC can resolve an individual calculation.
CPP 25.10 can place an eligible administrative release on the first day of the month containing minimum expiration, or on the prior weekday if that day falls on a weekend or legal holiday. Discipline, unresolved good-time loss, and detainers create exceptions. A detainer can redirect the person to a different authority.
After a Kentucky DOC Release
Parole is conditional community release after incarceration and Board action. Probation is ordered by a court and may occur without a prison term. Mandatory reentry supervision under KRS 439.3406 is a separate statutory path for qualifying state prisoners. The statute treats that release as parole, but it does not mean discretionary parole was granted.
The Kentucky Parole Board publishes weekly hearings and monthly schedules. KOOL is the practical individual result source, where the parole table may show Hearing Date, Hearing Action, Months Deferred, Next Parole Eligibility Date, and Proposed Release Date. “Parole Recommended” remains an action awaiting release processing. Updated KOOL, Daily Releases, and the responsible P&P office provide the useful cross-check.
Note: A Calloway conviction identifies the court of origin, not the Kentucky institution where a state sentence must be served.
